About The Job

Market:  Prince Georges County and Howard County

 
Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Market Relationship Manager in the Business Banking Division. If you are the chosen candidate, you will be responsible for developing new business client relationships focusing on loans of $1,000,000 or less and industry specific target programs.  Prospect and develop new business banking clients in assigned regions.  Expand existing relationships through business development techniques to prospect, identify, and meet client needs.  Responsible for a portfolio of business banking clients and acts as the primary contact for assigned clients, while continually expanding the client relationship through needs-based selling techniques.  Participates in business events and networking opportunities.  Effectively works with key representatives from all areas of the Bank to cross-sell products and services.

Areas of focus:

1.  New Business Prospecting

 Initiates business development calls to new business prospects with the objective of developing new business and cross-sell opportunities through consultative needs-based selling. Participates in joint business calls with product specialists from other business lines within Sandy Spring Bank and Sandy Spring Bancorp subsidiaries.


2.  New Business Development and Industry Specialization
Creates new business client relationships, with an emphasis on industry specialization targets, and works to cross-sell additional products and services to existing clients.  These relationships should include cross-selling the full-suite of available products and services to include new accounts, treasury management, insurance, and retirement/wealth planning.  Maintains contact with client throughout the approval and settlement process to ensure client satisfaction.  Troubleshoots problems or issues with internal partners.  Complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.

3.  Community Banking Partnership
Proactively assists branch personnel with sales and credit training, sales call coaching, and product knowledge. Develops sales strategy with Community Banking partners, while maintaining an excellent working relationship with Branch and Regional Managers.

4.  New Loan Production
Generates new loan production through consultative needs-based selling with new and established business clients. Works with appropriate partners, and/or Loan Center to facilitate the approval of loan transactions.  Maintains contact with client throughout the approval and settlement process to ensure client satisfaction.  Troubleshoots problems or issues with internal partners.  Complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Required Skills:

1.  Work requires broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in business banking, and relationship sales.  Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial business development environment is preferred.  A BA in business, finance, or related subject strongly preferred. 

2.  A high level of client service is integral to this role. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is comfortable interacting with external clients and centers of influence, as well as internal partners. Must excel at developing strong trusting relationships. Must work well under tight deadlines and with multiple priorities.

 

3.  Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, have strong attention to detail, and exceptional follow-through.  Must be organized and able to multi-task.  Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately. 

4.  Ability to understand the credit sales process, maintain excellent communication skills, including but not limited to, loan product knowledge, credit basics, ability to negotiate rates and loan terms, and proficiency with CX360+ (Salesforce and nCino).

 

5.  Position makes decisions within the framework of practices and procedures and/or precedents or well defined policies.
