About The Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently seeking a Trust Operations Specialist in the Trust Department.  If you are the chosen candidate, you will be under occasional supervision, in line with established procedures; you will perform a variety of duties associated with trust operations. 


Areas of Focus:

  • Manage bill paying system ensuring all bills are paid through online system.  Review disbursement maps and invoices.  Set up new scheduled deposits and disbursements as needed.

  • Reconcile trust system, process money market trades, reconcile money market balances and accruals.  Process and post incoming ACH and checks.

  • Process transactions including contributions, distributions and mutual fund trades as directed by Retirement Plan administrator.

  • Scan work in Optima and verify automated income.

  • Assist with printing and mailing of statements, send electronic files to vendors, move money for custodian income and fees. 

  • Reconcile various types of accounts.

  • Review fee calculation worksheets.

  • Review class action notices and process class action proceeds.

  • Review account transfers ensuring receipt of cost basis and date acquired.  Post assets to account and monitor delivery of securities keeping Operations Manager advised of status.

  • Prepare letters for outgoing transfers.

  • Provide backup for Operations Manager and trust processors.

  • Respond to requests promptly and serve as a technical resource to Trust Operations Team.

  • Mentor junior team members and resolve any client or operational issues proactively.

Required Skills:

  • 5 years of experience as Trust Processer II or 3-5 years of work related experience.

  • Familiarity with trust products and services as well as knowledge of accounting as it applies to trust accounts.

  • Experience in data entry and report writing and the ability to troubleshoot program problems.

  • Problem solving skills, and the ability to analyze data from diverse sources.

  • Regular contact with internal and external groups.  Interpersonal skills needed to maintain positive rapport within the organization.

  • Independent judgement required in interpreting existing policies and procedures.
