About The Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Senior Portfolio Administrator in the Credit Administration department. If you are the chosen candidate, you will be responsible for portfolio administration and servicing of commercial loans.  Duties include administrative support to the Commercial Lending Service Team Leader (CLSTL), Market Leader (ML), Relationship Managers (RMs) and Portfolio Managers (PMs). 

 

 

Areas of focus:

 

·       Portfolio Administration (25%)

Provides support to Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers by answering questions; resolving administration issues; Assisting with properly processing overdrafts, loan bookings; account status changes and  assists with the collection of past due payments. PA collaborates with RM to monitor the Document Exception. Reports for loans assigned to the Region; PA contacts borrowers to collect necessary information in concert with the RM. Researches tax liens, judgments and levies and other due diligence; Scans paper information to a pdf format and saves it in a common drive.  Following guidelines in the Stage Guide, PA enters renewals into CX360 platform.

 

·       Maintenance and Servicing (25%)

Services existing portfolio of clients by preparing and executing loan disbursements and advances including executing wire transfers when appropriate; providing problem resolution; receiving and answering direct or indirect inquiries from clients; For loans approved in the field, PA is responsible for making sure signed approvals and executed documentation are scanned to a shared client file   and to create an electronic credit and documentation file.  Provides post-closing support as well by providing executed documentation to clients. Assists Relationship Manager by collecting fee income related to bank charges as well as charges related to services rendered by outside parties.  PA is responsible for monitoring the Coming Due Letter of Credit report, coordinating with the RM to extend or close.

 

·       Loan Closing/ Processing (45%)

Assists RM with coordinating closings for new and renewed loans; Interfaces directly with the borrower and attorneys as needed to assemble additional supporting information and due diligence required for closing;  prepares boarding sheet for attorney prepared loans;  With RM, reviews internally and attorney prepared loan documents for accuracy and first review of title work; Under the direction of the RM, prepares commitment letters for laser pro documented loans and forwards to RM for review; ordering environmental reports and evaluations/ appraisals; Requesting field exams; Prepares adverse action letters, attorney closing instruction letters; Sends all decline/ withdrawn files to File Management.  Responsible for utilizing the CX360 credit tracking system once a loan is approved and during the documentation stage. 

 

·       Other Responsibilities (5%)

Able to take on a higher than average workload and works closely with RM/ PM on more complex deals.   May act as a senior partner to other portfolio administrators.   Provides administrative support for Commercial Lending Service Team Leader and Market Leader, in such areas as tracking and reporting business development activities, produces and distributes reports as requested; assist with coordination of divisional meetings. May be assigned other duties as needed.

 

 

Required Skills:

 

·         Position requires a broad level of professional experience in related field with a minimum of 5 years work experience in commercial lending support; knowledge of commercial loan documentation and lending principles.

·         Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports and other documents as needed.

·         Strong communication skills needed to effectively work with diverse groups of internal/external clients to explain products and interpret policy. 

·         The highest level of problem solving skills is required; situations require operational knowledge of the work and the unit, which may involve a range of possible solutions to problems.

·         Work is under minimal supervision, where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures and the selection of alternative procedures and work routines.  Alternatives may be limited or not well defined.
