About The Job

Location:  Columbia, MD

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting a Project Manager in the Information Technology Department.  If you are the chosen candidate you will effectively apply project management methodology and enforce project standards on bank wide initiatives.  You will create and execute project work plans and templates; revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.  The Project Manager will work with business lines to provide work flow analysis and redesign to effectively recommend improvements.  You will provide consulting to IT and business management on applying technology to business opportunities, planning and implementation of cross-functional applications. You will act as a steward of business interest on projects to deliver the right solution with a focus on product features, controls and cost.  You will also leverage the understanding of systems and relationships with business and IT players to create an environment where performers are motivated to do the right thing and excel while also providing input to senior management on department/area-level challenges and opportunities.

  • Business Analysis/Internal Consulting

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with 3-5 years of proven experience as a project manager.  Experience in the following areas: Business and technology projects; Banking or Financial Services experience; Leading project teams; Business analysis; Developing RFPs and Business Cases; Develop and Implement Training; Design and Write Procedures and Application Configuration and Analysis.

  • Proficient in MSOffice, Visio, and MSProject.

  • Advanced problem solving skills as well as the ability to analyze data from diverse sources.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

  • High level of internal and external contacts with the ability to work with all levels of management to resolve complex issues as well as develop procedures and present formal training internally.

  • Use of independent judgement in the interpretation of existing procedures and recommendations of alternative procedures and work routines.  Ability to arrange and plan own work.

  • High level of mental effort involving complex applications.  PC work for extended periods is frequently required and work is often under tight time constraints.

  • High attention to detail including business and financial monitoring, status and reporting.  Ability to develop and execute detailed testing scripts, plans and project documentation that minimizes bank risk.

  • Writing skills to document system problems and recommended solutions in clear/concise manner.
