About The Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting a Compliance & Government Reporting Admin in the Deposit Operations Department.  If you are the chosen candidate you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory, legal and government reporting requirements within the Operations Division.  You will oversee the accurate and timely processing of summons and subpoenas, attachments/garnishments and levies, dormant and escheatment suspects, IRS reporting, W-8 monitoring and back-up withholding, B and C Notices, IOLTA, MAHT, Debtor in Possession, and end of year government reporting.  The Compliance & Government Reporting Administrator will act as the primary liaison between internal and external auditors/examiners for all regulatory and legal audits covering the aforementioned areas.  Additional responsibilities include interpreting regulatory requirements and creating standard operating policies and procedures to comply, and the management of disaster recovery plans and SOX narratives for all processes completed within the group.  Serves as a member on Compliance Council and represents the division on committees, task forces and project teams in a participative manner.  Position will be responsible for managing and developing Compliance Operations team members to maintain a productive and efficient work environment and client-focused culture.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years financial services operations experience with a minimum of 5 years in a successful management role and in depth knowledge of bank operations and banking regulations and government rules.  Additional experience with Summons, subpoenas, garnishments, attachments and levy rules and research.  Bachelor’s degree or previous work in government reporting, and must be able to represent the company to professional organizations, regulators, and peer banks in a professional manner.

  • Proven leadership skills along with the ability to use good judgement and make independent decisions for the overall welfare of clients and the organization.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information from diverse sources to all levels of internal and external clients.  Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple priorities. 

  • Ability to draft business correspondence, create project plans, write procedures and interpret policies of a complex nature.

  • High level of analytical, technical, evaluation and critical thinking abilities, as well as advanced problem solving skills with the ability to think and react quickly to different types of problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret regulatory language and define, develop and/or change procedures and controls as policies and regulations are revised as well as obtain clear understanding of the potential risks and impacts of regulatory changes to the company.
